Mandy mended this

Another mending project that I never posted. This quilt had such interesting wool fabrics! But it was in terrible shape: moth holes, rips, and ALL of the batting was bunched at the bottom. The original ties were not close enough together to secure the batting.

So I carefully cut all the ties and surgically removed the back. The batting was toast, so it got tossed. The back was so thin it was transparent so it was unable to be salvaged.

I visibly mended the top with scrap bandana fabric and brightly colored thread. I added batting and recycled a flannel sheet for the backing.

The top was misshapen so some wrinkles were inevitable when quilting it down. It adds to the charm of this very mended and recycled piece, which surely has had many lives as suits and sheets before becoming this version 2.0 of a quilt.
